One other interesting industry anecdote: Apple CONTINUES to market on TV what they DON’T actually have. Once they have improved upon it, they STOP marketing it. It’s crazy. Here the 2 most outstanding TV lies:

In the old days when they had the IBM Power PC Chip, in all their computers (which was 3 times slower than Intel’s), they marketed it always as MUCH FASTER than the PC because they had the super-fast RISC-based 128-bit floating point Altivec processing engine, yet they were losing all business-relevant benchmarks by 2-3 times slower.

Then they finally switched to Intel, now they overclock their laptops a slight little bit so that they don’t last much longer than 1-2 years because of heating, NOW they HAVE the fastest laptops but they don’t advertise it one bit.

Instead, last year they were advertising how much MORE SECURE OSX is than Windows. Mac dude said that “PCs have a lot of security problems”. Again, a total, absolute, fantastic LIE: In 2007 ALONE Apple had to patch over 200 bugs in its Mac operating system, by means of NINE major security updates. And just last month they had to patch 41 flaws. It became so bad that they had to stop lying actually: The Vista Security guy dark glasses TV ad was pulled permanently. It made them look more ridiculous than PC nerd.

Pretty crazy world: It seems that if it’s on TV, it is a LIE, whether it’s an ad or “News”.

The NOT advertised system is the best: Windows XP.
