How to Write Your Resume Objective
Categories: Other News.
Objective: To write a useful article that will help resume writers grab the attention of interviewers by using a compelling resume objective.
The objective is the first thing people will see when they read your resume. A good objective will be concise, upbeat, and grab the reader’s attention.
Also, it needs to be tailored to each position you apply for. You need to tell the reader exactly why you want to work for them. Here are some tips for getting that perfect objective:
Do your best to keep the objective neutral. State what kind of job you’re looking for. Do not state your desire, but what you can do for the company.
So instead of writing something like, “A position where I can grow and use my skills” (etc), focus on the job itself. Say something more to the effect of, “An administrative assistance position in a fast-paced office environment.” When it comes to your objective, focus on the job and the company. Consider what the manager would want in a new employee.
One title per resume! Don’t make this a list of all the different things you can do. Specifically answer a question in the resume objective: “What job are you seeking?
Keep it short. The objective should be no more than one sentence. You may use two sentences as long as both are short and get straight to the point. However, a long objective will not be getting a lot of attention.
Avoid stating the obvious. Everyone wants opportunities for advancement, so there is no need to tell them so and start angling for your next job before you’ve even gotten this one! Avoid being redundant in your objective. Don’t tell prospective employers that you’re hard-working and responsible. Hopefully this will show up in your skill and experience!
If you keep these tips in mind and write your resume objective from the employer’s point of view, you will be one step closer to the perfect job!
