If you leave your car behind in a hurricane, such as hurricane Ike, hurricane Josephine, hurricane Kyle or hurricane Laura,, there is a lot of damage that could occur. The hurricane could drop things on your car’s roof. The hurricane could smash your windows from the sides. Trees could fall on the car. Or in the worst case, your car could be flushed away and wind up in the next neighborhood and you won’t find it when you come back.

Why is oil billionaire T. Boone Pickens advocating wind energy all of a sudden?

in the past oil billionaires have done everything they possibly could in order to increase the dependency of America on oil, especially advocating really clunky cars such as SUVs. Even the American “hybrid” cars are gas guzzlers in comparison to the Prius.  It seems like Detroit is specializing in cars like THIS with 20 Gallons PER MILE, so that mom can pick up Johnny from school in style:

While Germany has reduced its gas consumption by over 10% just in the last year alone, there is no such thing happening in America.  The only thing that is happening here is that the gas price is increasing by well over 10%, and so are of course the profits of the oil companies.

Now why would an oil billionaire such as T. Boone Pickens advocate the use of wind energy over oil?  I think what must really be happening here is that his companies are running out of oil, and so they cannot really continue to expand into profitable oil manufacturing.  Only now, that it appears that there are other more profitable avenues, such as wind and gas, this man is making an effort to help America break free from the dependency on oil.

I would say it is about time.  This kind of stuff should have happened already over a decade ago.  I support his idea of wind energy, but also believe that it is vital to push electric cars.

Removing Windows Vista Media Center from bootup - Disable MCE to make Vista faster

I installed Windows VISTA on the fastest computer in my house a couple of months ago - big mistake. Now my fastest computer runs the slowest, such as in Internet Browsing and many other commonly used tasks.

Often when I want to do something on the VISTA computer, it is already “100% busy” with some of it’s own ideas, and typically these things are the “trusted installer”, (who trusts it I have no idea) and the Windows Media Center.

I plan to go back to Windows XP, probably one of the best operating systems ever made. But in the meantime, I’m going to speedup my Vista by disabling MCE:

• Right click on your my computer icon, left click on manage. A computer manager window will then pop up. Double click on services and applications icon in the right hand box. Then double click on the services icon in the right hand box.
• Now that you have the services menu up and running scroll all the way down to the W’s. You will see several services that start with “windows media center”
• there will be a windows media center extender service, a media center scheduler service, a media center service launcher, a media center receiver server, etc.
• right click on each media center service, then left click on properties.
• once your in the properties windows, you’ll be on the very first tab, the “general” tab.
• there will be a section that says “startup” it will be a drop down menu box. click the drop down box and select disable.
• Now just do that for each and every single media center service.
• reboot windows and you will now have media center disabled

Windows Vista Ultimate Running Slow? STOP that MCE and get faster.

My computer has been running intolerably slow on Windows Vista Ultimate, and one of the main cuprits that results in all sorts of slowdowns is that Windows Media Center. It cannot really be removed, because it’s part of Windows, but you can DISABLE and STOP it from running. That will give a lot of relief and make your Windows Vista Experience much faster:

1. 1. Click on “Start”
2. Click on “Run” and edit “services.msc”
3. A windows will appear. Find all these services and disable them: Windows Media Center Extender Service, Windows Media Center Receiver Service, Windows Media Center Scheduler Service, Windows Media Center Service Launcher (and other services which have the launch or launcher word and thast are related with WMC)
   
4. Click on “Start” again
5. Click on “Run” and edit “MSConfig”
6. Go to “Startup” tab
7. Uncheck those entries which have the ehome as path such as ehTray.exe. This will prevent MCE to start when you turn on your PC.
8. Done!

Lowest gas prices in Clearwater - cheapest gasoline downtown Clearwater at $3.71/gal 05/17/2008

Where do you find the cheapest gas prices in Clearwater and Dunedin? What do you do if you want to save on gas and live close to downtown Clearwater? There are several websites that report the lowest gasoline prices in Clearwater and surrounding, but they are often not up-to-date because they depend on reader feedback.

I happen to live close by one of the constant top performers in the cheap-gas game in Clearwater, the Dodge’s Store  in Clearwater at 1194 NE Cleveland & Drew St. (close to Missouri and Drew) I’m going to keep this website page up-to-date with the lowest price as I can see it, hopefully it will help someone save a few cents.

It’s been such a crazy game with the gas prices increasing all the time. It’s very disappointing to see the gas prices to up and up all the time and I’m using my bike more and more again, it’s also good exercise.

Just recently I saw this calculation which shows that’s it’s not gas prices going up but US$ going down:

Way back in the “good old days” of 1964, I could give three silver dollars to the service station owner and buy 8.85 gallons of gasoline at $0.339/gallon. I won’t even mention “Gas Wars”, when gasoline might go for $0.259/gal.

Today, those three silver dollars which were 90% silver would be worth $45.76. (silver was at $16.95/oz. Friday). With $45.76, I can buy 13.04 gallons of gasoline at $3.509/gallon.

Everyone should quit whining about the cost of gasoline and blame the billionnaire boys for the devaluation of the U. S. Dollar.

Celebrity ‘The Apprentice’ 80% think Trace Adkins should have won instead of Piers Morgan

Unbelievable! Although Piers Morgan raised over 10 times as much as any other competitor, and he won far more tasks than most, popular opinion seems to favor Trace Adkins over Piers Morgan. I wonder how the charities would feel about 10 times less or 10 times more donations?
