In a healthcare system that relies on ‘ fee for service’, it is critical that families have access to affordable health insurance. Even a simple doctor’s visit can easily become a huge financial burden considering the rising costs of these services. Part of this cost is to cover for the portion that insurance companies ”’write off” while reimbursing doctors and clinics. There is therefore, an incentive, for the doctors to inflate the fees. People with limited means who do not have affordable group health insurance are the ones who get most affected in such a system.

The costs of group medical insurance are based on probabilities. An insurance company apprehends that a certain fraction of each population will be ill and they will need medical services in a given month. The objective of the company is to collect enough fees so that they can cover these cost, their running cost as well as they can post a profit .Your health costs are partially covered when the need arises on part of your contribution to this pool.

Depending on hou much risk they cover, different insurance companies have different polcies. few cover a certain percentage of your medical costs, whild few require a co-pay (set amount for each office visit) and still few have a deductable, an amount you must spend out-of-pocket before insurance kicks in.

Affordable group health insurance can be obtained if one’s employer or spouse’s employer provides this service. Health insurance companies usually approach employers with the aim to provide discounted health insurance to workers. The employer may pay portion of the fees for the insurance as a fringe benefit to employees and the employees pay the rest which result into affordable group health insurance. You can check with your human resources staff to know about the availability of this scheme at your place.

Children - your dependents - also may be covered under your health insurance. There is usually an open enrollment period during which an employee may add his or her spouse and children to the insurance policy for a slightly higher fee. When you or your spouse gives birth to a child, you can also immediately add the newborn to your insurance policy in most locations.

If you’re self-employed or if your employer doesn’t offer any affordable group health insurance, try searching under “individual medical insurance” or “open group health insurance” on the internet to find a group you can join. By joining a group, you can still get medical insurance.

A Person can save a significant amount of money by obtaining group medical insurance either through an employment group or as an individual. By simply paying a percentage of his salary or part of medical bills one can get better healthcare than an uninsured person

Affordable group health insurance is a cost-effective healthcare service. Every insurance company has a different policy on how much they cover, like some have a compulsory deductible while other have a requirement of fixed costs or cover only a percentage. Health insurance companies like Texas group health insurance have a contract with employers to provide discounted health insurance to its workers, with the company paying a portion of the insurance. This insurance covers children or dependents. A Person can save a significant amount of money by obtaining group medical insurance either through an employment group or as an individual.

Group health insurance programs are usually NOT discounted. Why, because most group programs do not underwrite the quality of the health of the employee. So an enrollee can be healthy, or not. Which means that the cost of the group’s health expenses can be very high. Individual health policies do underwriter the quality of the health of the proposed enrollee, and if there are qualities that will inflate the anticipated cost of the proposed enrollee health experience, the proposed enrollee will be rejected or accepted with qualifications.

If we are to get the cost of health insurance to be more affordable, then there needs to be a mandatory requirement that everyone have some sort of health coverage so that there will be minimal uninsured expenses that have to be written off and recaptured by way of the rates for those who do have health insurance. Herein lies another whole argument - forcing the low income population to pay something for basic health insurance and if they don’t, do we fine them
